Russell Brand Arrest Warrant Issued Over iPhone Toss

New Orleans police issued a misdemeanor arrest warrant for Russell Brand on Wednesday in connection with the funny man's run-in with a photographer earlier this week.

Brand is accused of grabbing a photographer's phone on Monday and throwing it through the window of a law firm in downtown New Orleans. According to TMZ, that resulted in the warrant being issued on Wednesday.

Brand, who is in town filming a movie, has not denied that he grabbed and hurled the phone. Earlier this week, he responded to the flap by posting on his Rustyrockets Twitter feed, writing, "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."

Brand has reportedly offered to pay for the broken window at the law firm. The paparazzo, Timothy Jackson, filed a police report immediately after the incident that claimed "criminal damages." Jackson had been posted up along with several other photographers when he attempted to take a photo of the 36-year-old British actor and Katy Perry ex, who is in Nola shooting Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody's new untitled film.

Brand is the second celeb to run afoul of the law recently after grabbing someone else's phone. Last month, Chris Brown was accused of "robbery by sudden snatching" in Miami Beach after Christal Spann claimed that the singer reached through his car window and grabbed her phone
 before driving off.

Though a report was filed in that incident, no arrests were ever made and no warrant was issued in the case.
